First up we have Connor De Phillippi's pole from round 1 of the championship from the streets of St. Petersburg. Notice how smooth De Phillippi's throttle applications are. None of the off and on junk a lot of guys do. Once he's on the throttle he stays there until the next braking zone just how they teach you.



The second video is Jack Hawksworth's lap from a wet Barber Motorsports Park. You can't help but be impressed with how smooth Hawksworth is as well, just what you want on a wet lap. Well done.

Video: Spec Miata Race at Nelson Ledges

 I had my first official Spec Miata race this past weekend at Nelson Ledges and I surpassed my highest expectations grabbing two 3rd place finishes in the feature races Saturday and Sunday. I managed to qualify the car 2nd on the grid for Saturday's qualifying race and I was ecstatic. At the start of the qualifying race I fell back to third at the start, but methodically worked my way up into the lead to put myself on the pole for the feature race later in the day. Enjoy the action Spec Miata has to offer!

 The modern day diesel prototypes from the likes of Audi and Peugeot are some of the most interesting and exotic race cars in the world, but seem to lack some of the "soul" and raw excitement of the GTP cars from the 1980s. Back then, cars lacked paddle shifters and many of the new driver aids that make drivers' lives easier nowadays. It was simply you, your right foot and a six hundred horsepower brute of a racing car. Take a look (and listen) as Rick Knoop gets behind the wheel of a Jaguar XJR-5 at last year's Rolex Monterrey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca.
